The
weather is great with glorious beaches, magnificent mountain ranges and many
small, traditional villages for exploration. So apart from our Safari hot
spots, people often ask what else there is to see.
Historically
- due to many invasions, Rhodes has a rich tapestry of architecture and you
will see lots of different influences as you travel around. Just outside of
Rhodes Town there is an amphitheatre and on the west coast the Ancient City of Kamiros
is positioned.
Kalithea Spa has undergone a
recent renovation and is worth a visit especially for those of
you that would like to snorkel or scuba dive as this area is used by most
dive companies.
The amazing Old Town is
most impressive during the
evening, when the old fortress is lit up and provides a stunning backdrop to
the harbour and the cobbled streets host many restaurants and shops.
Butterfly Valley is a lush green Valley, with a small river
running through it. The site is beautifully arranged, with little wooden
Bridges, stone steps, and an uphill path which leads to the Monastery of
the Virgin of Kalopetra.
Lindos
Lindos is the jewel in our
Crown! This is a must see while you are here. Great to do this by boat - so take an East Coast cruise and
enjoy the spectacular scenery as you approach Lindos -the crescent sandy
beach, white sugar-cubed houses and the imposing Acropolis!
Also fantastic during the evening, when the cobbled
streets are bustling and the many rooftop terraces give fantastic views
across the village.
Also just an island hop away
is the beautiful island of Symi where sponge diving and ship building are
still main industries. With it's pastel coloured houses set into the
mountain - it's a photographers dream
Faliraki
This much under-rated resort is
our home base and boasts a glorious
stretch of sandy beach, water-sports galore and a very pretty small harbour
with its own monastery, which is fast becoming a very popular wedding venue.
The Limanaki is sprinkled with harbour-side
tavernas and this is a great place to while away a few hours watching the
world go by.
Over the last few years, the resort is
evolving into a more family orientated place and as well as the Water Park,
we also have a Kiddie Fun Centre and Bowling Alley.
Of course, there is also the infamous Bar Street
- which caters for the more younger minded set, but even that has a much
more cosmopolitan feel to it nowadays and it is sprinkled with craft and
clothes shops.
Restaurant wise - we
have pretty much got it all - as well as some wonderful traditional tavernas,
there are many speciality restaurants to provide you with lots of variety
for every taste bud.
Within the near vicinity, we have the famous
bay which was owned by Anthony Quinn and also Ladiko - where many of the
local boats make a cruise stop as they are both just so wonderfully scenic to
visit.
